A friend of mines' wife has forgotten her logon password.
She thought she entered one thing, and I have just come
back home, after spending hours, (3-1/2), trying to figure
out her password. It was ( supposedly ) a short password,
and I tried spelling it as many different ways as I could
think of. She has Win2K Proffessional installed, and I
couldn't even boot up in Safe Mode without having to
supply a password. She doesn't have the installation disk
(s) or CD as she purchased the machine with the OS already
installed.
She has important data on the hard drive which she would
like to recover. How can I help her out? I also tried to
boot the system with a Win98 boot disk--not happening! ( I
thought that once I got the machine to boot under the boot
floppy, I could switch to the hard drive, go to the proper
file location, delete the old password, and --shazzam! I'd
be a savior ) Win2K is nothing like Win98/95, etc.
There must be a way! Please help!
