Yes for a normal log on, if firewall is configured correctly - block
everything and allow only what is needed. A SPI certified firewall that can
block unwanted outbound traffic also is the way to go to protect your
network from trojans and users running unauthorized applications such as
file sharing and chat programs that can cause a lot of grief. Go to one of
the free scanning sites to test your basic firewall vulnerabilty and scan
your own public address from the outside with one of the free available
scanning programs. Of course if your firewall is allowing access to certain
ports/services, then you need to make sure those applications are correctly
secured/hardened. You can also log onto a network remotely with vpn and
Terminal Services type applications if they are available. --- Steve

go to TechNet security.
