The problem, I believe, is that Win98 file sharing was built around the
concept of share-level security, which means password protected shares only.
I believe I did get this to work before, though. One thing you can try is
logging on to the Win98 machine using a username that exists on the Windows
2000 server and then specifying this user's password when you are prompted
for a "network password".
