Access Control Editor

Hi

I'm finding information about using the Access Control Editor very
thin on the ground.

My problem is more to do with setting up the Access Control Editor,
rather than using the Access Control Editor itself.

In order to turn on make read-only certain features, I need to check
access rights and permissions for the user attempting to set security
for my private object.

Is there a way of seeing if a user is granted ANY of READ_CONTROL,
WRITE_DACL , WRITE_OWNER and the like, or do I have to perform an
access check for each access right of interest?
