Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Users and Groups
Add your user account to the local administrators group

(note you will either need to be logged in as an administrator to do
this -or- you will need to supply an appropriate username/password when
doing the actual adding as Windows will prompt you).

If your account is in the local administrators group, then maybe there's
something wrong with the software. Consider downloading the latest version
from your vendor.

Cheers

: I just installed Win 2000 on a new machine....got everything up and
: running and all my programs installed and when I tried to install a
: new mouse driver I got the message "must be an administrator to
: install".........I must have done something wrong during the
: installation as I've never had this problem before. Is there any way
: that I can either name myself adminstrator or remove administrative
: control???? I hate to have to completely reinstall everything.
: Hoping maybe something in the registry could be changed. Any help
: would be greatly appreciated.
