I don't remember repair asking for a bunch of files, but I would go
for it if you have files available - possibly you would need service pack 3
in a directory already extracted. If you have fat32 you can boot from a
floppy and attempt to copy a repair registry yourself, otherwise you would
have to put the drive in another computer or do a parallel installation to
attempt it. Look in winnt/repair and you should find copy of original
registry. There may be a newer copy if there is a subfolder there - you can
check dates on files. Try copying the contents of the folder (or subfolder
if it exists) to the winnt/system32/config folder. I would suggest copying
the contents of the /config folder to another folder on your drive somewhere
to have just in case. Doing the copy of the repair folder will also replace
your sam from a backup copy. Just beware that the older sam file may have
only the original administrator account and original password to it. So you
may not want to not copy the sam file from the repair folder first try. Yes,
you could attemp to copy the sam from another W2K Pro computer. Again back
up original sam just in case you need it. Sam is located in
winnt/system32/config folder. Be sure to read links before proceeding. ---
