Screensaver password

The screensaver doesn't have a password per-say. That
concept or the screensaver needing a password comes from
the realm of single-user systems where there effectively
is no user-based security.

In Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and beyond, when
the system is "up" and not at the logon screen, then there
is a user logged onto the system. This might not be
apparent to you, especially if the user account has no
password and the system is set to automatically logon the
user. However, the user account is still there.

On these systems, when you specify password protection for
the screensaver, what this really means is when the
screensaver kicks in, it asks the system to lock the
console. the password used to unlock the system is the
same used by the user for logon with that account.

As an aside, you can always force the immedite locking of
the machine (control-alt-delete and lock), which is really
preferential if you're worried about 'prying' eyes, since
if you rely on the screensaver, then you still have a
period of exposure, not to mention you might be running a
program that tells the screensaver not to lock the system,
such as most DVD programs.

So, net-net: set a password on the account that your using
on the system.
