They actually have a considerable amount of encryption capability built-in.
But you have to configure and enable it. You can't just turn on your server
and expect everything to be sure. If you want secure IP communication, you
need to enable IPSec. If you want secure e-mail, you need TLS. If you want
secure SMTP, you need S/MIME. And the list goes on...
