I have also come across this error and uninstalled 331953 from our
development site. After doing the uninstall the following issues came
about:

1. Terminal Services hung during startup
2. The uninstall removed some enviroment variables needed by Commerce
Server.

Well I had to re-install terminal services (2 reboots) and re-add the
environment variables. Being that I am not comfortable with the
uninstallation of this on our production servers. I have opened a case
with Microsoft on this issue and have spoken to just about everyone at
MS besides Mr. Gates. We are working diligently on getting this
resolved. This is a pre-SP4 patch and will be included in the new
service pack, so just uninstalling will not suffice. I will update
upon resolution.
