You might want to enable/restart tcp/ip netbios helper service. I
remember reading somewhere that another service was related to it (maybe
dhcp client, which is needed even with static address) even though it was
not listed in dependencies. Congrats on having a firewall. If it is a lone
computer I would recommend just disabling netbios in the wins properties for
the adapter. You need to disable/uninstall file and print sharing (server
service) to see port 445 disappear. I have experienced myself that just
unchecking file and print sharing on the nic properties does not always
work, but disabling the server service or unistalling file and print sharing
would always do the trick and still allow internet access. --- Steve
