Right click on the root directory, select Properties->Security Tab.
Click on Advanced button.
Select the user/group you are interested in. Click on the "Edit"
permissions button
Select Apply Onto as "this folder, subfolder and files"
Select read/execute permissions you want to give and also "Create folder"
permissions.
