Auditing logons still not working

I have activated auditing yesterday on the default domain
policy for both success and failure of account logons and
still nothing is showing up in security event log. Is
there something I'm doing wrong? This is a stupid
question, but the default domain policy CAN be edited
right?? What else could I be missing? Thanks.
