Hi Rajen,

Have you checked the help files included with your database program to see what it says
about sharing a database on a network?

For example, with Microsoft Access 2000 a simple solution is to use the command that
"Opens the specified Access database for exclusive access". That way, if someone else
has the database open you get a warning message saying the file is already in use and
you can't open the database. And if no one else has it open, it will open in Exclusive
mode and lock out everyone. For more information, search Microsoft Access 2000 Help for
the phrase in quotes.

Also for Microsoft Access 2000, there is a DLL available from Microsoft that will let
you see which people are using a specific database. For more information, see the
following FAQ Section 21. How can I tell who is logged on to my shared, networked
application?

BTW, if your database application is Microsoft Access: 1) You could try posting your
question in one of those forums. 2) You may want to research the Database Splitter
feature that splits the existing database between its data and its objects.
