Hi,

The only (documented) way that I know to hide a folder
created on a Windows NTFS volume is by sharing it with a $
sign. In Windows, this literally means, "hide this
folder." But, this will also hide the user's folder and
he/she will be unable to find it.

I would suggest accomplishing your task one of two ways...
1- Do not hide the folders. Instead, implement the correct
NTFS permissions so that only the correct user can access
the appropriate folder(s). This will allow your users to
easily browse the network neighborhood in case the login
script doesn't work.
2- Or, use the $ sign and map your users directly to their
home directories by using the Active Directory Users and
Computers MMC or login script (but, you're probably
talking about workgroup directories and I wouldn't suggest
this if that's the case).
