For simplicity you might want to look here...

The X10 cameras are TV cameras rather than the more common USB style
webcams. The problem with USB is that you can't have too much cable without
having the expense of boosted extensions and you may end up spending more
than one of the X10 packages. With their cameras you don't need a cable at
all and can have a USB adaptor to convert to computer pictures.

They can be used with a normal VCR which a webcam can't, at last not
directly.

I am not sure what their latest packages are, perhaps you'd like to just
browse around there and check. There are several ways to do what you want
but I suspect they will all be more difficult than just buying a package.
X10 annoyed a lot of people with their earlier pop up ads but they supply a
lot of technical info if you study the site and frankly seem to have done
most of the work for you.

If you have DSL/Cable your ISP probably provides a "Homepage" or website you
could upload to, again it seems the X10 software can do this, however you
could also connect directly to the PC if that's your choice. What I am not
sure about it switching views or whether you can upload the images from
several cameras at once.
