You need to log in locally [change the domain to the workstation name] and
then remove and re-join the workstation to the domain.

Since you are clearly able to manipulate the registry files outside of
Windows, renaming the SAM.* files and rebooting is one way to delete all
local accounts and restore the Administrator password to nothing [blank].

I am very surprised that restoring the registry as you did worked... I would
expect to see future problems on this computer after doing this. Maybe not
today, but one day.
