Looking for links to setup a certificate

Hello,

        We are wanting to create our own certificates on our win 2k machine.
Can someone please point me to some links. I have a couple and I am looking
on how to find/use the Microsoft Certificate Service? Is this an application
that I need to purchase or is it a service component I need to add? Sorry
for being naive in this area. Any links for helpful documentation or
walkthroughs would be appreciated.
