To disable administrative shares:
Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following
key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\
lanmanserver\parameters
Insert a value with the following details:
Data Type: DWORD
Value Name: AutoShareServer (if using Windows 2000 Server)
AutoShareWks (if using Windows 2000 Prof)
Value: 0
Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
