Then you are doing competent trouble shooting/ debugging.

I'm quite surprised that Access as either an MDB or ADP runs as a
service on NT. I would've suggested writing just that portion of
code in a VB program.

Otherwise there's nothing I can suggest other than to contact the
vendor for an alternative method of working with the printer.
