Log on Problem

I have q two year old laptop using Windows2000
Professional which I have used without a log on password.
After two weeks of non-use a logon messages "The system
could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain
are correct then type your password again..." -
reqeusting a password when I have never used one. Please
help, thanks.
