My Windows 2000 users are able to see each others shares
while they are in the office. The same users often go out
to clients in pairs. They connect their computers with a
crossover cable. They still login to their machines as if
they are in the office. This keeps all their settings (My
Documents...) the same.

They are not able to browse for each other's shares while
at the client. They get the error "There are currently no
logon servers available to to service the logon request".
The problem is that the workstation is trying to
authenticate to the domain, but the domain is missing. I
can circumvent the problem with a "net use *
\\computername\sharename /user:computername\username
password". It would be a hassle to get the users even
know each other machine names.

Is there any way to get a Windows 2000 machine to
automatically authenicate to the other machine, when the
domain is unavailable? Could there be a registry setting
or some third party software.

Thank You,
Karl
