I don't have a modem here at work to check on, but in my LAN cards TCP/IP
properties, there is a NetBIOS setting. I think that's what they mean.
Never seen the WMI problem before. I'm surprised that dialog uses WMI. Did
you disable the winmgmt service or anything?
The firewall should be blocking these popups. If it's not then there is a
problem.
