I have copied about 10,000 files from one Win2k workstation to a Win2k
server. I created a user on the server for every one that was on the
workstation. I used xcopy and enabled keeping the ACL's intact. There
is no special permissions I want to migrate over except for the file
owner. It is a handy feature to view files in explorer with the owner
column showing. I can keep track of who created directories, files
etc. It's not a big deal, but I would like to try and keep that
information intact. However, I knew that the user SID's would be a
problem, since we don't use domains. When I view the copied files
using explorer the owner is the workstation SID from machine instead
of local_machine\username. I have read through the newsgroups and I
did not see an obvious answer to solve my problemm which is: I want to
change the owner of all files from the old SID to the new SID. I used
sysinternals to get the SID's. Is is possible to change the the owner
easily using a utility, or do I have to write script to find each file
with a certain owner and then change the owner?
