a. http://www.sysinternals.com - ERD Commander 2002
b. http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
c. http://www.dmzs.com/tools/files/
d. http://www.nmrc.org/files/snt/index.html - bootdisk.bin
e. http://www.sunbelt-software.com - NTAccess
f. http://www.2600slc.org/texts/SAM_Files.txt
These tools will allow a reset of the password
without knowing what the orginal was.
All require a re-boot of the system.
I have used options a, b, c, d. I like ERD Commander
but it is expensive, I would suggest trying
(b) ntpasswd, it does work and is free.
There is all ways possibility of damage to OS but these tools are
pretty stright forward and have been used by a lot of people
without problems, if you are realy concerned get ERD Commander
from SysInterals, Inc., they have tech support if you have
problems.
