My condolences on your troubles. There IS a way outta this.....
I would suggest Winternals' fine ERD (Emergency Recovery Disk) Commander.
It's a bootable CD that lets you work from a simulated Windows desktop to
perform diagnostics and repairs on "dead" or otherwise unbootable W2K
systems.
I've seen it in action and was amazed at all the cool stuff it can do.
