fatal error when attempting to access the SSL server

I was wondering if anyone has seen the following error and
if there is a way to correct it.

Source: Schannel
Event ID: 36870
"A fatal error occurred when attempting to access the SSL
server credential private key. The error code returned
from the cryptographic module is 0xffffffff."

I've looked all through Tech Net and can't seem to find
any reference to this. It has only started a few months
ago and comes up once in every couple of days.
