Steve,

Look for some other ways to get in. Maybe you can connect
through the network with an admin user and fix your
problem from there. Try a net use command from a remote
computer, see if it works, something like this:

net use \\targetpc /user:targetadmin password

or

net use \\targetpc /user:domain\targetadmin password

If you get a message that it connected successfully then
you can use Computer Management to also connect and fix
whatever users you need.

In your initial message you mention that you can actually
login as admin but that you are booted out to the login
screen. This behavior might have been achieved by a login
script or an entry in the startup folder.

If you are still having issues you might try posting more
details about the permissions that don't permit you to
login as administrator.
