In my experience the ease and speed of installing windows 2000 depends on
the speed of the machine, whether or not something goes wrong to make the
machine unbootable, etc. I guess reinstalling might be worth a try to some
people, but parts of the bad system are going to be retained, and parts of
the system you wish to keep can potentially be lost. Maybe the Windows 2000
reinstall process is better than other Microsoft reinstaller technologies,
but I have lost countless hours attempting reinstalls / repairs on top of
various microsoft technologies such as Office 2000, Internet Explorer 6,
regedit, etc. and have found that they never ever fix my problem, just waste
my time.
