Setting users and security

I am trying to set up security settings which will allow
certain groups to be able to browse a drive while keeping
others from listing the files and folders. Everytime I
deny the other group listing access, the Admin is denied
listing also. How do I go about this. For example :
CounterPointUsers dont need listing access while
CourseWorksUsers need listing access on the course works
drive and not any other, and lastly Admin's need access
to everything.
