I have to secure a computer running W2000.
I need to disable the "For Troubleshooting and Advanced
Options Hit F8" that appears during bootup.
Going to
System Properties | Advanced | Startup and Recovery or
System Properties | Hardware | Hardware Profiles
and adjusting things seems to have no effect on the "Hit
F8 option".
I do know that in W98 you could add an entry to the
MSDOS.SYS system file to disable this option.
I used the same technique for W2000 and it worked.
However, when I added a MSDOS (W98) boot option to the
boot.ini file it stopped working. The MSDOS.SYS file now
only seems to be read by the MSDOS boot, ie I can disable
the Win Boot logo etc.
Why would the fix work for the single default install OS
boot and not for the duel boot?
Is there a solution out there! I did come across a blurp
on the net regarding replacing the ntldr W2000 file with a
NT4 file. That didn't work either. Is there a ntldr out
there that will work?
Thanks in Advance......
