The disk on keys are recognised as a removable storage, not as a smart card.
There are USB smart cards readers around, which work with SIM sized smart
cards.

With XP, as long as the device is a recognized smart card device, the system
automatically adjusts for smart card login - you simply insert the card at
the login screen and it will ask for the PIN instead of a username and
password combo.
Look in Help and Support for more details on how to use smart cards.
