So you are saying that when you launch SSMS to connected to the instance of
SQL Server (in your case it is an named instance) you get the version of SQL
Server 2000?

I have two different intances of SQL 2000 and 2005.
On Firing "SELECT @@version" in sql query analyser in 2000 :
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05
Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on
Windows
NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)

And what i got running same in Sql Server managment studio 2000:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05

Is it possible that you connected to the 'old' instance (SQL 2000)?

Where do you run this command? In SSMS? I suspect you do not have
SSMS
installed on the computer for SQL Server Express Edition.
