SSL on SQL Server
Hi,
I have read this article "
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/276553/" to enable
SSL encryption for the SQL2000 server in my company, but I get a bit
confused about below point mentioned in the articles,
"when you enable Force Protocol Encryption from the server, it encrypts the
logins and data. However, it does not require the client to trust the same
root authority".
Does it mean the client side doesn't need to authenticate the source of the
certificate? If yes, does it imply it can not provide protection against
identity spoofing attack just like the self-signed certificate in SQL2005?
Thanks.
