Locked Out of Local Instance

I have a company owned laptop that has SQL Server 2005 loaded. I am running
Windows XP Pro, SP2. SQL was loaded for me by a non-DBA, standard computer
support tech. I did not set it up.
I have been in and out of that instance for a year and a half as I learn and
develop my SQL skills.
This week I deleted an old database that I no longer use. I now no longer
have any access to my own local instance. I had been using the Windows
Authentication mode and never set up a separate personal log in. As a test,
using an Access front end, I was able to upsize a database into the instance,
but still cannot access it. I do not have the SA password. The tech who
performed the install doesn't even remember setting one up. Here is the
error message I get.
TITLE: Connect to Server
Cannot connect to (laptop name/number).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Login failed for user 'domain\user name'. The user is not associated with a
trusted SQL Server connection. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452)
I have tried a suggestion to go through the command prompt. That did not
work. I tried a method of setting up in single user mode, but that did not
help, primarily because I do not have the SA password.
Any suggestions before I have computer support do a complete new install?
