i get a security update for SQL server 2000 service package 4 and
when i go to download it it wont install it and the error is 0x2B33.
How can i fix this
I can really only give one advice: open a case with Microsoft. MS will
charge you money initially, and refund you if the issue is deemed to be a
bug. But if MS cannot give any better error diagnostics it would be
outrageous in my opinion to refuse to refund you, even if the issue is
some trivial problem on your side.
You can search the system for log files, maybe the log file gives some
useful hint.
How far do you get before you get this error? Does it bomb immediately,
or after a while?
As an anecdote:
I had problems initially when Automatic Updates failed to install the
hotfix for SQL 2005 on my box at home. I got a similar less-than-helpful
hex code as error. In fact, I have quite a few programs that had started to
behave erratically, and I was fearing that some of the updates to Vista
had broken something. It was not until I started Process Explorer I got a
message in clear text. Of course, I thought that message was bogus too at
first, but it was really true. I was out of disk space.
