RE: Problem with SQL trusted connection.

Thanks Peter,

I have decided to run IIS \ SQL within the same vm. If I ever need to scale
up the system I will have another go at running SQL on a seperate box. If I
get the same problem with initial connections taking a while to establish I
will open up anooher thread.

Thanks for your help,

Paul.

Hello Paul,

Thank you for your reply. It seems from the original post you just asked
IIS7 configuratoin when both SQL 2005 and IIS7 on the same box. It's good
to hear the whole story to know more background of this issue.

Usually having IIS and SQL running on different box is to seperate the load
of Web server and SQL Server. If you evaluate the current and future loads
and confirm it's OK for a new dual quad core server, you could consider use
this configuration. I'd say splitted servers mmight be more appropriate for
scale up purpose.

It's not normall that your applicaton needs 30s to open a connection to SQL
Server but it's a different problem and you may want to create a new thread
on that. You may start to try to a SQL authentication login other than
Windows login in your connection string to see if it's related to Windows
authentication.

If you have any further comments or questions, feel free to let's know.
Thanks.
