I don't recall that the SQL Server 2008 Installation asks me to specify an
admin user.
This was something that was changed in CTP5. Previous CTPs used the old
SQL 2005 setup.
The application will not create windows groups or windows users in AD.
Whether the application will create login which is tied to a windows
group or a window user is a question mark to me. If the common way (or
standard) is to have logins for an applicaton created outside the
application, I will follow the standard. The problem is that I have no
exposure to any application which is using Windows Authentication so I
don't know whether the authentication should be handled internally by
the application or not. I cannot find guideline/best practice for this
in MS.
I can't claim to have any knowledge in this area, but my gut feeling
is that you should do it outside the application.
