Re: guideline for service account user

Thank you Ekrem...that's the clear answer I was looking for!

And my goodness, thanks for all the posts you have contributed all

You'll need to change it manually and restart your services when you change
service account details. This applies to all services.

Under the MSSQLSERVER and Agent services properties, there is a 'Log
On' which shows that service's user and a password field. If a Domain
Account is used, does the password on this tab need to be changed
separately, or does changing the Domain password automatically flow to
this service tab?

Thanks,

1) If your SQL Server will run under a domain and need access to network
then you should use a Domain Account as a service account. Local account
would not work in the scenario.

2) Don't know about this.

1) Looking for some good info on what user should be used for the
sqlservice account as well as agent.

Local vs Domain Account

This user will need to be to access Network shares for DTS file loading.

2) We use Samba shares from our Unix system where we dump extract files
to
be picked up by a Sql load process. Is there any reason why we can't run
more than one Load process at a time. If we try and run 2 together we
get
a collision on making the Samba connection. The second process gets a
failed login attempt seeing how the first one is active and has dropped
it's connection. These processes are launched from the same BOX.

Thanks
