Integrated Security by any LDAP solution other than Active Directory?

Has anyone ever seen a solution where you could get some sort of integrated security to SQL Server through an LDAP solution like OpenLDAP or Novell's eDirectory without Active Directory in the mix?

Probably a more likely scenario, has anyone ever seen an integrated solution where SQL Server was in a small resource domain with no users and the users were in a trusted non-Active Directory LDAP system such as OpenLDAP or Novell's eDirectory?

Thanks,

Chuck
