Yes but it stops the casual onlooker for the short term. The ideal solution
is to stop any unauthorised access. Until there host sorts that out it just
helps.
At the end of the day you can reverse engineer any thing if you put the time
in.

Note that this is not real encryption, only obfustication. Anyone who
wants to get the code in clear text, and who knows how to do a Google
search will do so.
