Cleint encryption and MSsql problem

Hi

I created a self cert and installed it on the:
- server in the computers personal and trusted root cert folders
- client computers personal and trusted root authority
folder

but when I run the SQL MGMT studio express and click >options>
encrypt
connection and connect I get:

a connection was succesfully established with the server, but then an
error occured during the pre-login handshake (provider:SSL Provider
error:0- the certificate chain wass issued by an authority that is
not
trusted.)

how can this be if the cert is in both machines trusted authority
folder?????

.
