Jan,
You need access to one of the SQLAgentxxxRole(s) in msdb.
There are 3 SQLAgentxxxRole(s) that have different levels of permission. See
BOL for more details.

I am a newbie to SQL 2005 and trying to understand the permissions. When I
run SQL Management Studio with an account that is not a local admin on the
remote SQL Server, I can't see the SQL Agent node at all. What permissions
do I need to set in SQL so that I can see that node.
Thanks
.
