Consider copying the data needed to her server. That will mean you don't
have to give access to the companies network from the internet
connection.
It will of course depend on how up to date the info needs to be. An
overnight copy would be best but you can do incrementals during the day
probably.
As to what to develop the web site in - it depends on what you are
experienced in - asp would probably be simpler than asp.net if you
haven't used either but a .net would be better if you want to develop
skill in this area (and are keen on microsoft).
