sql server 2005 issue with user_id()

Hello,

We have 2 "identical" AD users, A and B, that we have created in a SQL
server 2005 (SP1)

They have the same permissions, setting etc.

If they execute

select user_id()
select user_id(user)

A gets the same result for both queries (the user id), but for B they
differ. The first returns 0 and the second returns the correct user_id !!

Why ??

This issue is also occuring with select is_member('domain\B') for user B. It
is returning 0 (not member)

For user A is is working fine.

Any ideas on what could be wrong ?? We have tried everything ;-)

The AD is located on a separate Windows 2003 server.

Thanks
