SQL Authentication

Dear All,

i found out that sql authentication is not recommended due to its weak
encryprion to the username and specially the password while sending
them over the network.

But unfortunately, i can't use windows authentication, so what can i do
to ensure the transmition of data safely??

i heard about something called TLS, do u think it may help???
