Hello John,
Ok...I've consulted with my co-workers and we seem to be at a loss.
How would I go about avoiding the "move to server" and registering the
remote instances in SSMS? What is SSMS?
SQL Server Management Studio, you know, that program you admin SQL Server with... :) [you are using something other than SQL 2005 Expression edition, right?]
You should be able to connect to any instance, even on the remote machines, so long as they have the proper network ports open and do whats needed on them.
