Re: MYSQL Question
I have no control over the MVP program nor do I have any control over the
conduct of any MVP.
If a question can be answered by a simple reference to Books Online, I'll
rarely post a reference. I simply don't answer the question.
I'm not saying either way, no I don't like the response posted by JS on
1/30. I'm simply pointing out that pretty much everything gets answered out
here, regardless of whether someone thinks it is simple or not. There is a
reason for that. There are a LOT of things I consider simple and obvious
that's I've learned aren't considered as such by a lot of people. There are
also a lot of things other people consider simple that I don't think are. A
good example of this is some perf tuning stuff I saw at several conferences.
I listened to at least a dozen presentations that had a core element of
taking a trace, loading it into a table, and running queries against it. It
took me that long to understand what the big deal was, because to me it was
something that I thought everyone knew simply because it was something that
I had been doing for over a decade going back to BCPing a SQL trace into a
table with a text column and then using T-SQL (substring, stuff, replace,
etc.) to split and aggregate the queries. Simple and obvious to one person
doesn't mean simple and obvious to someone else.
As for this one, the answer to the question is already posted since I'd
consider the behavior described as a worm, virus, or whatever you want to
call it.
