SS2005 connection problem

Dear all,
I am new to SQL server 2005.
I have a connection problem when I connect from home client to office
server through VPN.
Firstly, I can connect from office client to office server, both
datbase engine and analysis server,
with Windows authentication. I log in the office client box with a
domain account (domain\userid),
and the office client and the office server are both known to domain.

1.Windows authentication
My home client box is not known to the domain, but I can ping the
office server, I created a local
userid on office server and tried connecting with Windows
authentication (the same userid/password
on the home client login) The following error in SSMS:
login failed for user ''. The user is not connected with a trusted SQL
Server connection. (Microsoft
SQL Server Error: 18452)

2.SQL Server authentication
I created a userid/password in server side SSMS -> server -> security
-> logins and I tried connecting
from home client, the same error in SSMS:
login failed for user ''. The user is not connected with a trusted SQL
Server connection. (Microsoft
SQL Server Error: 18452)

My home client is a Windows XP Pro, and I checked the firewall is
closed.

Any comments are highly appreciated.
