I'm pretty sure adding the account to the local SQLServer2005SQLBrowser
group will take care of it. On my installation, SQLServer2005SQLBrowser is
granted read permissions to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server and
subkey permissions are inherited.
