On the help page:
Administering SQL Server->Establishing Security for Linked
Servers
It says:
Therefore, you need to set up a local login mapping from a
Windows Authenticated login to a specific login on the linked
server.
This instruction is repeated on the MSDN site under
SQL Server 2000 ->
Administering SQL Server ->
Managing Servers ->
Configuring Linked Servers ->
Establishing Security for Linked Servers
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/adminsql/ad_1_server_24tv.asp
This makes sense, but it doesn't say how to acomplish this or have a
link for further information.
Anyone know how to map a "Windows Authenticated login to a specific
login?"
I'm trying to access data via linked server definition where the user
access is via Windows Authenticated Login and the remote server is out
of domain. The user accesses a local view that returns data from the
remote server. The local view access permission has been granted to a
Windows Group, which the user is a member of.
Thanks,
Mark
